The Wall Street Journal had an article detailing some facts about CEOs. The story titled "Are CEO's Worth Their Weight in Gold?" states that the, "average CEO's salary in the U.S. is 475 times greater than the average worker's salary. In Japan, it is 11 times greater." The CEO for Oracle, Lawrence Ellison, set a record in 2001 with a $706 million in compensations.
The SEC has decided to crack down by unanimously voting to, "propose a rule that would require companies to disclose more information about pay packages for top managers." One of the major issues being dealt with is that some companies, "pay an executive's own taxes on everything from stock grants to luxury vehicles, or provide perks such as personal use of corporate jets."
