According to a newly declassified document, propaganda used in the Middle East is increasingly being "consumed by our domestic audience and vice-versa," but argues that "the distinction between foreign and domestic audiences becomes more a question of USG [U.S. government] intent rather than information dissemination practices," and that "PSYOP messages disseminated to any audience except individual decision-makers - and perhaps even then - will often be replayed by the news media for much larger audiences, including the American public." The document also states that, "information, always important in warfare, is now critical to military success and will only become more so in the foreseeable future."
